The qdc Neptune Earphones – Single Driver Breath of Fresh Air
I am very, very glad I found the qdc Neptune, simply because it offers a wonderful breath of fresh air. I am used to multi driver, unique and unusual technologies and very expensive IEM’s. The Neptune takes me straight back to the start , back to basics, where everything is just much more simple. Neptune provides just a single, dedicated balanced armature driver in each ear, a plethora of tips for perfect fitment, a good quality cable that fits over the ear and is comfortable to wear and a good quality 3.5mm connector to attach straight to your player.
Using just the 1 balanced armature driver in each earpiece the sound is very elegant and provoking. There are subtle details that can be heard effortlessly playing in the background, The music is well balanced and provides a great insight into the mix. It doesn’t have ultra incredible, low, deep bass but it’s plentiful, it doesn’t have extreme treble extension but its musical and involving. The earphone is simply an awesome, every day carry that has taken me by surprise by its audio quality using just the one single driver. It may not feature many different drivers and multi way crossovers, nor does it feature exceptional, advanced technology but it simply sings.
The Neptune package, in its entirety, is great and provides everything you could possibly want to start venturing into what the “high end” equipment can offer in a brilliant, bite sized dose.
