Since the introduction of the Kann it has often been regarded as the best portable player sub £1000. Now after a few years of the Kann taking that crown, Astell & Kern feel that a revision is in order. Introducing the Kann Cube, a behemoth of a portable player and one that looks to dwarf every other player on the market for brute power. Astell & Kern have almost doubled the power over the original player, upping the output from 7Vrms to 12 Vrms. This is a substantial amount and enough to satisfy the majority of full sized cans. Making the Kann Cube an ideal transportable player for work or whilst flying.
This time round the Kann features a 3.5mm and 2.5mm connection for headphones and a dedicated 5 pin connector for connection to your home hifi in order to use the Kann Cube as a source component.
Having upped the power Astell & Kern have also provided a beefier CPU, meaning that their flagship UI has been installed from their flagship SP1000, albeit the Kann Cube version has been slightly improved upon. This also means that the Cube benefits from the introduction of a limited number of additional apps that can be installed such as TIDAL and Spotify. This makes the Cube somewhat more accessible than the original Kann as TIDAL offline is a major bonus for listeners at the moment.
Internally the Kann Cube has a beefy 128GB storage for your favourite albums and has twin ESS9038 PRO DACs in Dual Mono mode for the best performance.
