The Focal Elegia pretty much completes the already incredible Focal headphone lineup. Consisting of a modified M driver seen in their other headphones, the Elegia retains Focal’s legendary performance in a closed back design. By using strategically placed vents inside the internal workings of the headphone means that the bass response can remain punchy without being overly bloated. This often occurs when introducing headphone drivers into a closed environment.
The Elegia will go down to a purported 5Hzand all the way up to an ultrasonic 23kHz. With the Elegia’s special design the tonal balance of the headphone remains clean throughout the frequency response and provides incredible resolution.
Focal have managed to reduce the impedance of these headphones over their bigger brother the Elear down to a tiny 35 Ohms, This means that the Elegia is perfectly suited to being paired with a portable player and even at a push a smartphone of choice.
The introduction of a closed back design means that the Elegia is perfect for whether you are inside or outside. The design provides excellent isolation from the world outside and likewise retains a degree of privacy as music escaping from the headphone is kept to a minimum.
